 User Manual: Linking PAN with Aadhaar To link your PAN with Aadhaar, please follow the steps given below: Step 1: Open the Income Tax e-filing portal Visit the Income Tax e-filing portal by typing https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/ in your web browser and press Enter. Step 2: Register on the e-filing portal If you are not already registered on the e-filing portal, click on the "Register Yourself" button and complete the registration process. Your PAN (Permanent Account Number) will be your user id. Step 3: Login to the e-filing portal After successful registration, login to the e-filing portal by entering your user id (PAN), password, and date of birth. Taxpayers can go to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and click on the link on the left pane-> Link Aadhaar, provide PAN, Aadhaar no. and ENTER NAME EXACTLY AS GIVEN IN AADHAAR CARD (avoid spelling mistakes) and submit.  After verification from UIDAI, the linking will be confirmed. In case of any minor mismatch in Aadhaar name provided by taxpayer when compared to the actual data in Aadhaar, One Time Password (Aadhaar OTP) will be sent to the mobile registered with Aadhaar.  Taxpayers should ensure that the date of birth and gender in PAN and Aadhaar are exactly same. In a rare case where Aadhaar name is completely different from name in PAN, then the linking will fail and taxpayer will be prompted to change the name in either Aadhaar or in PAN database. Aadhar Debit Card As per the latest reports there could be soon the launch of Aadhar Debit Card in India.  Given above is the image representation if Aadhar based Debit Card comes in the market. Speaking at a press conference at Niti Aayog about the alternatives of physical currency, Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), said, “There are currently 1.31 crore transactions per day through Aadhar and we can handle up to 10 crore transactions per day. We will soon be able to manage 40 crore transactions each day.” Commenting on the issue of privacy associated with Aadhar-enabled transactions, Pandey said, “The Aadhar laws are such that we cannot ascertain whether a certain transaction is a credit, debit or anything else. Govt to check fraud by linking Aadhaar to matrimonial accounts as per sources . Are you still not married and have you registered in any matrimonial sites, then be ready to link your Aadhaar. If you don't have the Aadhaar you may need to live as a bachelor till you get an Aadhaar. This step has been taken due to fake profile in these sites wherein people are getting cheated. The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) has called a meeting of various matrimonial site agencies and other stakeholders on July 8 to decide a “robust, scalable, multi-tenant architecture for preventing the exploitation of young women” registered on such sites. One of the steps DeitY is likely to propose is making Aadhaar mandatory to keep out or track down frauds.
