Google Doodle Celebrates - Algeria National Day 2023 | 05-July Today's Doodle honors Algerian freedom Day, which is a national holiday that remembers the struggles Algerians went through to get their freedom. After 132 years, the country got rid of French colonial rule on this day in 1962.  Algeria's fight for independence began in 1954. After a hard eight-year war for independence, people got their freedom. In March of 1962, the leaders of the two countries signed a peace deal called the Evian Accords. The country became independent in early July. Algeria's independence day is July 5, which is also the date of the first French invasion. This gives the day a new meaning and connection. Algerians get together for parades, concerts, and cultural events to show their pride in their country and keep their customs alive.
