The database was created by the Ministry of Human Resource Development's Department of School Education and is maintained by the National Informatics Centre. The Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE), which was launched in 2012-13 and integrates DISE for elementary and secondary education, is one of the largest Management Information Systems on School Education, covering over 1.5 million schools, 9.6 million teachers, and 264 million students. UDISE+ is an enhanced and improved version of the original UDISE. Since 2018-19, the full system has been online and gathering data in real time.
