UDISE (Unified District Information System for Education) is an Indian school database. The database was created by the Ministry of Human Resource Development's Department of School Education and is maintained by the National Informatics Centre. It keeps track of things like the number of dropouts and the state of the school bathrooms.
The Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE), which was launched in 2012-13 and integrates DISE for elementary and secondary education, is one of the largest Management Information Systems on School Education, covering over 1.5 million schools, 9.6 million teachers, and 264 million students. UDISE+ is an enhanced and improved version of the original UDISE. Since 2018-19, the full system has been online and gathering data in real time. UDISE+ is tasked with gathering data from all schools that provide formal education from Classes I to XII.
UDISE Form 2022-23 – How to Get UDISE Code
Each school in the country will be assigned an own UDISE code. If a new school is founded, it must get a UDISE code in order to establish a unique identity in the UDISE+ database. Schools should take the following actions:
- The school user should contact the district MIS officer with the necessary papers, particularly the school's recognition letter. This applies to both accredited and unaccredited schools.
- District MIS users will apply for the UDISE code through the “School Directory Management” in the UDISE+ system and the request would flow to the state MIS user for approval.
- State MIS users will verify the application and request any clarification at the district level. State-level user is the sole authority for approval of UDISE code generation for the school.
- Once verification gets completed at the state MIS level, the application is sent to the Ministry of Education for UDISE code generation.
- The UDISE code generation process takes approx. a week to get completed.
