TEXT MESSAGING WITH AI
- No matter how great any of us are at texting, we can still be better. If you choose to turn our AI assistant on, Mei can give you insights on your texting conversations. She can interpret chats in real-time, help you understand how you can come across through text and even alert you when she senses certain things in your conversation. Even without turning on the AI, Mei is an upgrade to the stock SMS & MMS app pre-packaged in most Android phones.
[Latest Feature] Anomaly Detection
- Is the person you’re chatting with behaving differently than they normally do? In our latest release, Mei introduces an anomaly detection feature that alerts users if she notices abnormal behavior from either the user or someone they’re texting.
Credit System
- Our credit system manages the data and intelligence exchanged in the app. Users have the opportunity to earn credits when they share their data, opinions and knowledge (e.g. interact with the AI or labeling messages). Users will use credits to request data and intelligence, for example, to understand a contact’s personality. While Mei is in beta testing, intelligence features will cost significantly fewer credits and more credits will be rewarded for sharing data than after we’re fully launched. This is our way of thanking early adopters for helping us test and improve our app.
Intelligence Features of Mei
Texting Advice: Mei offers texting advice based on perceived personality differences. Our unique personalities and ways we express ourselves can often lead to miscommunication and misinterpretation. Mei will consider what she detects as differences between the user’s and contact’s personalities and provide initial suggestions on how to bridge the gap in communication. If she perceives a contact as very spontaneous and the user more organized, she will tell the user It’s okay to play things by ear.
Predictions: Mei can predict the age and gender of users and contacts. What we learned early in studying text messages was certain demographics like age and gender tend to correlate with the way we text. In addition, Mei is also able to predict the type of relationship you have with the person you’re texting – whether they are a friend, family member or crush (someone you’re romantically involved in).
Personality: Improving your relationships start with better understanding yourself. Without asking any questions, Mei can give you a full personality profile showing you how you appear to come across in your texts. Unlike most personality tools, which ask question after question, we don’t need any input from you – Mei analyzes the text messages already on your phone. You can also see the personalities of the people you text with and see how similar you text.

- End-To-End Encryption: When texting with other Mei users, we use end-to-end encryption
- Free International Messaging: Since our messages can be transmitted through the internet as data messages, our users can text with each other in any country for free
- Unsending Messages: Unsend/delete messages at any time, whether or not the person has read the text
- Exploding Messages: Messages will be deleted after a pre-set amount of time, regardless if the text has been read or not
- Delayed Messages: Allows you to schedule and cancel messages before they send
